New Cool Roof Brochures

Oakland, CA (June 1, 2007)- The Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) has developed three brochures on cool roofs, aimed at: a) building owners, facility mangers, architects, and roofing specifiers; b) Code bodies and building officials; and c) Roofing manufacturers and sellers.

CRRC is an independent organization that has established a rating system for displaying accurate radiative property data on the outermost layer of roof surfaces. A cool roof is one that reflects and emits the sun's heat back to the sky instead of transferring it to the building below. "Coolness" is measured by two properties: solar reflectance and thermal emittance. Both properties are measured from 0 to 1 and the higher the value, the "cooler" the roof.
