Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Funds for Childhood Obesity Prevention Efforts

Deadline: July 25, 2008

Faith-based Advocacy: Galvanizing Communities to End Childhood Obesity, an initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, supports faith-based coalitions (Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, interfaith) to advance community policies or environmental changes that improve access to healthy foods and/or opportunities for physical activity.

Policies and environmental changes should focus on improving the availability of affordable healthy foods or improving access to safe places for children to play. Of particular interest are efforts that reach children at greatest risk for obesity, including children who live in low-income communities. Approximately 20 to 25 grants of up to $225,000 for 24 months will be awarded.
