Deadline: April 15, 2008
The Home Depot and KaBOOM! are joining forces to offer an exciting grant opportunity to qualifying organizations. This grant program demonstrates The Home Depot's commitment to supporting community-based groups with a desire to build fun and healthy community playgrounds, and exemplifies how KaBOOM! empowers communities with the tools, knowledge and the inspiration necessary to create great places to play.
Organizations awarded this grant will receive $4,500 in grant funds to be issued in the form of a one-time lump-sum payment sent to the grantee's equipment manufacturer. This grant is designed to:
* Encourage the development of fun and safe playspaces for children
* Help local communities realize their own capacity for action
* Promote the use of online communities, resources, and tools, to organize and engage the community at the local level
* Share best practices among communities through online tools and participation
* Leave behind a visible legacy of what is possible when communities can draw upon one another's experience and knowledge
This grant program is intended to reward groups that have already begun planning a playground project and are making solid progress toward their goal. Consideration will also be given to projects earlier in their planning, but with the clear understanding that these projects must be entirely completed by June 1, 2008.
