Deadlines: various
In the charge to create clean air, green streets, and healthy neighborhoods, it's easy to get caught up in the daily grind and forget to reflect on what we've accomplished. So, during the course of the year, we like to pause to celebrate milestones. We see a lot of best practices and replicable models, and offer these awards and honors to celebrate some of our favorites.

Borer of the Year Honor
The Borer of the Year Honor recognizes individuals who have advanced urban and community forestry public policies on any level (local, regional, state, or federal) through shear persistence, vocal amplification, omnipresence, and even tactlessness (if need be!). The informal nature aside, this individual should play a strong role within the organization and the community. We seek an individual who models accomplishment through unrelenting leadership and unsung dedication.
Environmental Educator Cup
The Educator Award recognizes the ingenuity of education professionals who employ creative techniques to teach the benefits of trees. Such educators have often infused knowledge about the interconnectedness of trees and people, neighborhood development, and global stewardship through creative and engaging lessons. In addition to the cup, the recipient also receives a $500 cash award to continue his/her work in environmental education.
Executive Leadership Trophy
The Executive Leadership Trophy recognizes that nonprofit director who exhibits outstanding mission driven characteristics.
Service Prize
The Service Award recognizes those organizations that carry the banner for nonprofit excellence in service to urban and community forestry. There are two category levels for this award: budget under $300,000 and budget over $300,000. Community impact is the primary selection criterion, but special consideration will be given to organizations who engage Team Depot associates.
Tree Hero Award
The Tree Hero Award recognizes a community member, organization, foundation, or business who has done the most to advance urban and community forestry. Tree Heroes are community members who provide leadership, inspire the work of others, utilize innovative strategies and techniques to achieve significant results, and foster the growth and sustainability of the urban forestry community. Tree Heroes can be on-the-ground planting/maintenance leaders, policy advocates, corporate supporters, progressive foundation staff, and more.
