ACT supports Fire Funding Reform

College Park, MD (July 22, 2010)- ACT joined a diverse and growing group of leaders urging appropriators to provide full funding for fire suppression as outlined in the FLAME Act, and to restore other agency funds negatively impacted by fire borrowing.

In past years, the federal government has borrowed from other program accounts to pay for fighting forest fires, negatively impacting other important conservation and restoration work. Providing adequate resources for programs like Urban and Community Forestry requires a fix to the way the government funds fire suppression.
