Urban forestry programs impact more diverse groups than any other state forestry agency activity. Thus, there is a greater challenge for state urban forestry coordinators to identify, understand, and involve varied populations when planning or implementing services.
The Outreach Services Strategies for all Communities guide will help you engage diverse groups in your community. Start by learning more about the multiculturism of your area. Next, determine how to reach the various communities by cultivating relationships and refining communications. The end result is to develop outreach efforts and a work environment that identifies, understands, and involves the diversity in your community.
These steps, resources, and success stories will help you provide service to all communities. Each page provides space for you to write down information and notes. As you work through and complete the various steps, the result will be an effective outreach plan for your specific needs.
