Deadline: June 18, 2010 (extended!)
ACT, in cooperation with Arbor Day, SMA, and UAA are pleased to announce the creation of the City Teams partnerships program. The goal of the city teams program is to encourage the development of sustainable community partnerships and to strengthen existing collaboration within urban forestry programs around the country.
Each partnering organization will select seven (7) two-person City Teams to participate in this program and attend the Partners in Community Forestry National Conference for two consecutive years. The City Teams project is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Forest Service National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council.
Teams that are selected to participate in the City Teams program will be required to:
* Attend the 2010 and 2011 Partners in Community Forestry National Conference. A travel stipend (up to $400 in airfare and $150/night in lodging for three nights) plus conference registration will be provided.
* Prepare pre and post conference goals regarding how your City Team wants to advance urban forest management and programs for your area.
* Provide goal updates at certain intervals during the program.
* Participate in surveys regarding the program.
Selected teams will be notified by August 1, 2010.
The City Teams project is designed to strengthen and expand the urban forestry community to include new and diverse participants and organizations. By engaging a comprehensive group of urban forest constituents to encourage collaboration, partnerships, and learning, the City Teams partnership program will broaden the scope of urban forest management to promote healthier, more livable communities.
