Plant Our Future Signature Events engage local organizations to green their communities in partnership with private sponsors. From planting street trees with residents to building parks with corporate volunteers, Plant Our Future customizes local greening projects to meet communities’ needs.
Plant Our Future Signature Events are tailor-made planting projects to revitalize neighborhoods with trees and greenspace. ACTrees has coordinated a wide variety of Signature Events to meet sponsors’ goals, including:
In partnership with its member organizations and City Year, ACTrees has helped CSX Corporation meet and exceed the goals for its Trees for Tracks program – a campaign launched in 2009 to plant 21,000 trees: one for each mile of track in the CSX railway network. At dozens of events with ACTrees Network members, Trees for Tracks has engaged hundreds of CSX employees and families as well as community volunteers to plant thousands of trees at schools in Baltimore, Miami, Philadelphia, and Worcester, MA; at public parks in Chicago, Albany, Lexington, KY, and Jacksonville, FL; and in residential neighborhoods in Atlanta, Nashville, Richmond, VA, and Willard, OH. Trees for Tracks plantings have garnered television, newspaper, and newswire coverage. Watch a video and learn more about Trees for Tracks.
Boise Project UPTM
Boise Paper partnered with ACTrees in 2011 to launch Project UP as an extension of the company’s recycled papers brand and its ongoing commitment to environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Project UP is an initiative to transform under-utilized urban spaces into beneficial community resources, by working with ACTrees and its members to revitalize vacant or neglected land as green public parks. Project UP has created innovative and award-winning urban parks in Baltimore, MD and Indianapolis, IN, with more planned in Toronto and Miami. Watch a video and learn more about Project UP.
TD Tree Days
In 2011, TD tapped ACTrees to launch the TD Tree Days program in the United States. TD Tree Days provides TD employees, their families and friends, and local partners the opportunity to volunteer in communities where they live and work and to demonstrate their commitment to urban forest stewardship. Since then, hundreds of volunteers have helped enhance the environment of U.S. cities through TD Tree Days plantings with ACTrees member organizations that have refreshed downtown greenways, built new community gardens, replanted neighborhoods devastated by natural disasters, and greened city streets and school grounds.
