March 21, 2012
To help grassroots tree-planting organizations reach their volunteer recruitment and management goals, Alliance for Community Trees has teamed up with the Arbor Day Foundation to connect you with a new audience of potential volunteers using a new resource: the Arbordaynow.org Volunteer Center. Created in partnership with VolunteerMatch.org, the Volunteer Center matches community members with nearby environmental volunteer opportunities simply by typing in their zip code.
We will be introducing the Volunteer Center and going over best practices for online volunteer recruitment for tree-related projects during this VolunteerMatch webinar on March 21. Using common volunteer opportunities from tree planting organizations, we’ll discuss best practices for creating listings on VolunteerMatch that will appeal to the volunteers you’re looking for. Volunteer coordinators from two ACTrees member organizations will discuss how and why they’re using this system, and how it benefits their organizations.
Meredith King, Volunteer Coordinator, Sacramento Tree Foundation (Sacramento, CA)
Sacramento Tree Foundation recruits and manages community members to fill an average of 3,000 volunteer spots each year.
