The Alliance to Save Energy invites the public to attend EE Global (Energy Efficiency Global Forum & Exposition) Public Day- an “Energy-Efficiency World’s Fair.” With winter just around the corner, this fun day will showcase ways to save money on your energy bills and help the environment through energy efficiency. EE Global Public Day is being held from 11am to 4pm at the Convention Center (801 Mount Vernon Pl, N.W.). Guests of the Alliance for Community Trees are invited to attend free of charge.
This family event will feature entertainment from The Globe 94.7FM radio station, experts on hand to analyze home energy bills, the chance to meet the Maytag Repair Man, and a “real, live” Energy Hog! More than 70 exhibitors from around the world will be displaying the latest energy-efficiency technologies, including state-of-the art home appliances, a Christmas tree decorated with LED holiday lights, and a vehicle that gets more than 100 miles-per-gallon.
Exciting raffle prizes include a Whirlpool Cabrio Washer and Dryer, an MP3 player, an Energy Star DVD player, a free home energy audit, a Rinnai tankless water heater, an efficient space heater, and much more. There will also be great free giveaways, such as a compact fluorescent light bulbs.
The event also will serve as a “how-to guide on energy-efficiency” with experts on hand to analyze home energy bills and educational seminars on topics such as:
* How to Reduce Your Energy Bills
* DC’s Plan to Reduce its Carbon Footprint
* What to Look for When Buying a New vs. Old Home
* Hybrid Vehicles and Efficient Driving
* Becoming a Carbon Conscious Consumer
* The Energy Hog Show for Kids!
People are encouraged to use public transportation to attend this event at the Convention Center, which is located adjacent to the Mt. Vernon Square Metro stop on the Yellow and Green Lines. The general public admission price is $10 per person (students (with ID), military families (with ID) and children under 12 are admitted free).
