Pitch In! Keep Macon County Beautiful will be cleaning litter from the streets prior to the Farm Progress Show. The event will honor Linda Kehart, who has devoted many years to the health and cleanliness of Decatur and Macon County. Linda originated the ‘Sparkle and Shine’ campaign in 1986. Mayor Paul Osborne and Emily Beck, Macon County Fair Queen, will preside over the cleanup kickoff on Aug 25, 8:30am, at the SE corner of Main and Eldorado.
It’s most successful year saw 4,000 volunteers cleaning the streets of Macon County. The dates were chosen to emphasize the importance of an attractive community to visitors during the Farm Progress Show.
Locations include: Highways 51 & 36, various churches, and Near East Neighborhood. Find out how to get involved.
