Local Climate Leadership Summit

Climate Communities and ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability USA are convening the nation’s top city and county leaders from across America to take this important message to Washington, DC. Local government officials will meet at the Local Climate Leadership Summit in support of the “Empowering Local Government Climate Action: A Blueprint for President Obama and the 111th Congress.”

Already endorsed by more than 400 local government leaders, the Blueprint focuses on national policies needed to empower local governments in promoting green buildings, increasing public transit and cleaner vehicles and fuels, fostering community-scale renewables, building green infrastructure, creating green jobs and businesses, and adapting to the impacts of climate change. Specifically, the Summit will provide local elected leaders and staff with opportunities to:
* Partner with Obama Administration leaders
* Meet with key Congressional and federal agency ?decision-makers
* Help create federal policies that direct significant resources to local clean energy and climate action projects
